Kiesendahl+Calhoun's new show "Ensemble" opens April 16th celebrating the artist Robin Price, whose paintings remind us of the promise of Spring.

192 Main Street, Beacon. Show runs from April 16th through May 16th.

In all seasons, Robin Price creates beauty. From May to September, Price nurtures an elaborate garden with an artist's sensibility and transfers her intimate knowledge of plants and flowers onto her paintings. Though she sometimes paints in the summer, winter is the time she gathers cherished objects as well as images of fruits and flowers from her gardens, to create warm still lifes. Like a musical ensemble, the artist orchestrates a flow of form, light and color. The compositions seem to emerge from within, like kinetic energy stored from a long season of lush growth.

The artist sees her paintings in musical terms. "Melodies are created for me when colors balance. Shapes repeat themselves and create rhythms. Resonance occurs when a space is vibrating between two and three dimensions. When it seems right and I have the beginnings of a successful piece, then the conducting begins. When it
